New Feva yachts arrive

Handing over

Rear Admiral Hunter (Rtd) accepts the first Feva class yacht from the importer.

Sea Cadet Corps units throughout New Zealand will begin to receive their new two-person yachts as more Fevas are imported.

The Sea Cadet Association of New Zealand has been instrumental in funding this initiative.  They hope to have one yacht placed with each Sea Cadet Corps unit and then start funding for a second yacht.

The Feva class, originating in Great Britain, was selected after an exhaustive search for a fast, modern replacement for the range of sailing classes currently used. All Sea Cadet Units were canvased as to their requirements and future thoughts on youth sailing.  The Corps Boats Officer conducted the initial research.  The results of the research and consultation was taken to the national association who made the final decision.

Sea Cadet Corps units across New Zealand are excited at the prospect of sailing the new class.
