ANZAC DAY

Cadets parade at Portobello

Cadets from around the country proudly paraded with their communities on ANZAC day.

Many Cadet Units paraded with more than one community or covering more than one parade within their community.  The Dawn Parade was often followed by a civic parade around 10.30am with the same cadets attending both.

Some Cadet Units made attending the parades an overnight experience.  Assisted by parents and Cadet Officers they gathered the previous night at their Headquarters where they spent the night ensuring, among other things, that their uniforms were immaculate and their parade drills polished.

A number of Cadet Units also attended parades in nearby communities that have no NZ Cadet Forces presence. Such actions continue to raise the positive profile of our organisation.

This year three cadets were chosen to attend the services at Gallipoli where their behaviour and standards maintained bought credit to the NZ Cadet Forces and New Zealand as a whole.

A senior cadet was also invited to represent the youth of New Zealand at the National Service held in Wellington where he lay a wreath, accompanied by a senior High School student, on behalf of the young people of this country.
