ISCEP - Singapore

Cadets check out the bridge corner

In early June a party of four Sea Cadet Corps cadets, accompanied by LT V. Saysell (NZCF), joined Sea Cadets from around the world for the annual International Sea Cadet Exchange Programme in Singapore.

Once in Singapore the overseas visitors were accommodated on Changi Naval Base where they experienced tropical barrack life and came to appreciate what ever sea breezes they could find.

The group experienced a wide range of activities throughout the trip, some sedate, some awe inspiring and others which pushed cadets outside their comfort zones.

Time was set aside for the compulsory "Singapore shopping experience" so the cadets can now relate to tales of shopping in China Town, Arab Street and Orchard road.

The group reported that the Singaporeans were superb hosts who provided a fantastic experience which all the cadets fully embraced.  Our cadets interacted well with all the cadets from the other countries even when language was sometimes a challenge.

The participants would encourage all cadets to consider putting their names forward for future trips. It is a "once in a life time" experience.
