Leadership Runs in the Family
LTCOL Hoult with his daughter
By W/O Buzz Harvey
Leadership obviously runs in the Hoult family, with Lieutenant Colonel (LTCOL) Hoult developing the new Leadership framework for the Army, while daughter Jordan climbs on the first rung of the leadership ladder. The Southern Area Office recently conducted a Junior Leaders Course for NZCF cadets.
As part of the course, a trophy is awarded to the cadet who displays the most leadership potential, a significant award as leadership is the principal focus of the course and is presented by the Reviewing Officer of the end-of-course parade. Jordon, of No. 17 (City of Christchurch) ATC Squadron, won the trophy from the recent July holidays course.
Unbeknown to her, the Reviewing Officer for her course was the Director of the NZ Army Leadership Project, LTCOL Rob Hoult, her father. LTCOL Hoult, himself an ex-ATC cadet, was also unaware his daughter was to receive the trophy until it was announced on the parade ground.
He gave the cadets an excellent short speech on the value of leadership and how the training they have received will serve them throughout their lives.
